Crocheting in the Round - Three Ways - with Susan Chin

March 3, & 10, 2024, 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Crocheting in the round is a useful skill to know for items like hats, mittens, cowls and sweaters to making stuffies and granny squares. Students will learn how to join their work in the round, work in spiral rounds, joined rounds, rounds that form a tube and flat circular and square fabrics.

Crochet Intensive: Slip Knit to Treble Stitch - with Susan Chin

March 5, 12, 19, & 26, 2024, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Our beginner class teaches the basics of crochet over four sessions. This includes the foundation chain, single crochet, half double and double crochet, treble, as well as crocheting into chain spaces -- many of the ways crochet is stitched in a flat (worked back and forth) fabric. We’ll also look at ways to hold a hook and yarn, stitch tension, pattern terminology, how to read a pattern, join new yarn and weave in ends.

March 9 & 16, 2024, 10:00 - 12:00 pm

In this technique focused workshop, you will be introduced to Fair Isle knitting (two-colour stranded colourwork). The instructor will cover colourwork knit flat and in the round.

Knitting Intensive - with Susan Chin

Students will learn how to cast-on, knit and purl, how to bind off, 1x1 ribbing and fixing easy mistakes. We’ll also look at ways to hold the needles and yarn, stitch tension, pattern terminology, how to read a pattern, join new yarn and weave in ends.

    Join us for the first silver Willow Fibre Festival in Saskatoon! We are so excited to be going to an event in Saskatchewan again!

    Bring a project to work on, visit with other fibre lovers, and show off some finished projects. If you are taking a class on a Saturday morning, feel free to stay after the class to continue working on your project.
